Caring for your rabbit after they have been neutered | Rabbit Awareness Week

When your rabbit has a neutering operation coming up, it’s important to think about how you can help make their recovery as comfortable and stress-free as possible at home. Here are some top tips:

🐰 When going to the vets, take some of your rabbit’s bedding with them. This carries their scent and can help to make the experience less stressful.

🐰 Have plenty of hay and fresh food available, both pre and post op. Unlike many small pets, rabbits must continue to eat around their operation to maintain their gut movement.

🐰 Make sure there is a soft, warm area for them to rest.

🐰 Monitor their toileting and food intake for the next 48 hours and check their surgical site for any signs of infection.

In our video, Woodgreen’s vet nurse, Heidi, shares more advice on how you can help your rabbit.
