A cat who is snoring or grunting could be suffering from a number of important conditions. They could also be just fine…but how do you know? Well, there are a few things to consider when answering why is my cat snoring and grunting!
A few of the main conditions to consider are a cat who is overweight. The fat effectively pushing on their throat and airway, causing it to become narrowed and so causing grunting or snoring.
Some breeds of cat are bred with these problems, specifically the flat nosed breeds like Persians. If their nostrils or throat are too narrow then the problem will be the same.
Grunting can be a sign of pain, along with tooth grinding, but if that was the case it is likely that you would notice other problems rather than describe your cat as otherwise happy and healthy
