The first thing to do is to make sure that whatever you decide to feed your cat is that you are not giving them too much to eat. Obesity is a huge problem and has a massive effect on both health and life expectancy.
Raw diets do have risks with infection being the most important. Feeding a dry commercial diet can mean your cat becomes a kibble junkie. And it is probably never the wrong thing to feed your cat a wet diet.
