What's Impaction & How do Reptiles Get it?



Impaction is a very popular topic when it comes to herpetoculture. Generally caused by sand, calci-sand, gravel, and walnut shell substrate is a health issue that can occur overtime in your reptiles. Although many animals have survived on sand and other indigestible loose substrates just fine, others have not because it’s such a serious issue.

Today, we go over how it’s caused, how to avoid it, and my personal opinions on using indigestible loose substrates with animals.
