Pet Rat First Aid and Medications the holistic way

I consider myself an holistic pet owner. There are too many chemicals through out the years that have been pumped into rats for either real illnesses (mostly myco) or for animal testing purposes. I feel that it has hindered them as animals in general and made them a very unhealthy pet. Rats are susceptible to many lung illnesses along with many different types of cancer. Some rats are resistant to almost every type of antibiotic and have to stay on them for months to get better. This makes me very sad. I try and PREVENT these things from happening with my rats and also try and heal the natural way. I DO take my rats to the vet if there is a major problem or injury. I do not deny them care due to my beliefs. However I do feel that with better breeding, diet and natural care rats in general would become an healthier animal.
