Small Animal Care Tips
Options for fractures when referral surgeon is not affordable Small animal vet advice for broken leg
I am a small animal veterinarian who is often asked for treatment advice when referral care is not possible. My advice is simple; as long as your pet can eat, drink, urinate and defecate it is ok to try cage rest as a treatment option. Although it is not ideal it can in many cases save a pet from euthanasia and most pets will heal IF strict cage rest is adhered. Ask your vet if this is an option for your pet. And if the pelvis is fractured you must spay your pet after they heal. For more free pet advice and options find me at pawbly.Com
