This is their story – and how you can help:
A few years ago I rescued a baby rat who was just less than a few hours old. I was awake day and night making sure Hugo got those vital feeds to ensure he has the best possible chance of survival. we always knew there was something a little different about Hugo was it that he slept on my bed or was it the fact he came everywhere with me. well it was Hugo’s little wobble it didn’t start to affect his quality of life until he reached around 2.5 years old then by the time he was 3 years old he was diagnosed with a growth on his brain, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge in order to put his suffering to an end. This made me want to let Hugos legacy live on by helping more animals in need.
So in 2018 I became the founder of Hugos small animal rescue sanctuary. now three years on I run the rescue with my amazing friends/volunteers and between us we aim to help any animals that come our way. Whether is feathered, furred or scaled, we help all animals from rabbits and piggies, to wild bird and reptiles in rehabilitation, rehome and release. We are Blackpool based and cover the fylde coast and surrounding areas. As well as rehoming, we also offer sanctuary places for animals who are unable to find homes due to behaviour or medical issues. We currently have over 40 animals in our care.
Since we are only a small non- profit organisation, we rely solely on the generosity of the general public to afford to house, feed and offer veterinary assistance for all of the animal in our care.
