How To Keep PET TORTOISES HAPPY! (TIPS & TRICKS)

#tortoise #reptiles #tortoisecare

Animal enrichment is something that we as keepers should be practicing regularly, no matter what species it is we’re dealing with. Tortoises are no exception to this rule and they benefit greatly when we make things interesting for them. Simple ideas like hiding food, simulating rain or changing up the habitat a bit go a long way and they improve the quality of the animals’ lives. It’s up to us to take the very best care we can of our tortoises and this can be fun for both keeper and tort. Be creative, think about how in nature the tortoises have to find everything they need on their own and remember: just because history has taught us that tortoises are slow, uninterested creatures, that does not mean it’s true to any extent and enrichment is crucial for them to be happy while living the amazingly long lifespans they’re supposed to achieve. Whether you’re keeping sulcata, red foot, Hermann’s, Egyptian, Texas, leopard, Greek, Russian, Galapagos, Aldabra, elongated, Marginated, radiated, desert tortoises or some other species, they should all be able to live interesting lives even under managed care. This video will show you some tips and tricks regarding how we enrich the lives of our tortoises here at Garden State Tortoise!
