Here’s what happens when streetwise cats meet NYC rats | Science News



Spoiler alert: Cats are not as good at catching rats as one might think they are.

The popular notion of cats as fabulous ratcatchers falls apart in a study at a trash collection site in Brooklyn. Cats prefer little, mouse-sized prey, and video shows the supposed great hunters mostly ignoring big rats, occasionally giving half-hearted chase, and on rare occasions, actually catching a rat.
