Guide to XIAOLIUQIU! (25 things to do on Taiwan's Lambai Island)
While in Taiwan, we explored Xiaoliuqiu Island (AKA, Lambai Island) and set out to find the best snorkel spots and things to do on this popular day trip from Kaohsiung City!

1. Rent a scooter, which is a very popular way to see the island or plan a long hike like we did! 😀
2. Purchase some cute sea turtle souvenirs to take home!
3. Visit and snorkel Vase Rock, the most popular spot on the island!
4. Walk the Vase Rock trail!
5. Hike the Beauty cave area – it is so cool and has so many caves to explore!
6. Stop at Beauty Beach
7. Explore the Shanfu Ecological Walk, which at the time this was filmed was under construction, BUT there is still a cool old military base to explore.
8. Stop by the Shanfu Lookout for a great photo spot, or if you’re there in the evening enjoy a drink at one of the many bars perched above the coastline!
9. Admire some of Lambai’s best nature at the Wild Boar Trench
10. Relax and catch some sun at Venice Beach
11. See an amazing Hibiscus flower grove on the trail near Venice Beach
12. Learn some of Xiaoliuqiu’s dark history at the Black Devil Cave (aka the Black Spirit Cave)
13. Poke around Liuqui town to see the local shops and food options!
14. Try Taiwan’s legendary shave ice at the Snow Ice Shop (It’s seriously SO good!!!)
15. Head to the other side of the Island to one of Taiwan’s famous rock formations, Guanyin Rock
16. Snap a quick photo at Rat Rock too!
17. Get a great view over the island at the Ancient Banyan Tree!
18. Stop by the nearly 100 year old White Lighthouse!
19. Snorkel, SUP, or Kayak at Secret Beach – one of the islands BEST and diving snorkeling spots!
20. Watch the sunrise at the Sunrise Pavilion! (And/or the sunset at the Sunset Pavilion!)
21. Climb down to see the Lobster Cave! Watch your step, nearby are also some other cool cave formations to explore!
22. Find the *actually* secret beach we stumbled on to – once you have found some cool old military installations on the beach, you’re there!
23. Explore the beautiful neighborhoods for some local surprises – we found that amazing cultural show, fireworks, an amazing old cemetery on the coast (not filmed), a cool old junkyard (not filmed), amazing old cemetery on the coast (not filmed), and more!
24. Visit one of the cookie shops to try the twisted cookies that originate on Xiaoliuqiu Island!
25. Have a beach day at Zhongao Beach, located just outside of town! It’s a great sandy beach known for its great snorkeling!
*Extra tips for your trip!*
-BRING CASH if you are a foreigner to Taiwan! They do not accept foreign cards on the island!
-Public ferries arrive at the Dafu Ferry Port, which is further from most scooter rentals and accommodations. The private ferries arrive at the Baisha Tourist Harbor. Plan accordingly!
-Pack plenty of sunscreen, hats, and rash guards!
-Bring bug spray!
-The west side of the island is very walkable, the east… not so much!
