DIY Dry Mix for Pet Rats

How to make your own dry mix for pet rats
Find a container to serve as a measuring cup. Each cup will be 10% of your mix.
Grains (60%) such as:
– Pearled or micronized barley
– Rolled oats (no salt)
– Brown ice and/or puffed rice (NOT rice crispies)
– White sorghum
– Red sorghum
– Wheat
– Buckwheat
– Babala (pearl millet)
– Tri-colour pasta
Legumes (10%) such as:
– Dried peas
– Lentils
Proteins (10%) such as:
– Dried mealworms
– Eggfood
– Mopanie worms
– Dried shrimps
– Dried fish
Herbs and seeds (10%) such as:
– 1/3 a cup with parsley, lemon balm, garlic, seaweed, cinnamon or lemon grass
– 2/3 cup with hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut flakes, linseed, safflower or sunflower seeds
Vegetables and fruit (10%) – fruit should be limited
– Cranberries
– Shiitake mushrooms
– Pumpkin
– Kale
– Carrot
– Sun dried tomato
– Onion flakes
– Goji Berries
– Beetroot
Mix it all together and store in airtight containers. You can add protexin (which is a probiotic) to the mix. Store in a cool dry place or in your freezer to prevent weevils.
Feed this dry mix to your rats as part of a balanced diet that includes both fresh and cooked foods.
