Mia was originally introduced as a possible mate for Acara, as part of the Species Survival Program (SSP). The SSP is trying to save the species by providing a safe habitat to meet potential mates. The SSP is kind of like the eHarmony of the Zoo world and works to provide matches for multiple endangered species. The SSP decided to transfer Mia to the Hogle Zoo to see if he and Acara are a match.
