Fish Care Tips

The SPRING BLUEGILL Bite Is Turning On!

I took out the kayak and several ultralight fishing rods in search of whatever bites. As the day went on, I realized that Bluegill were getting aggressive and grouped up in some of the shallows. It seemed like the banks getting the most sunlight throughout the day were the absolute best, which totally makes sense. In the early spring, the warmest parts of the lake that get a lot of sun penetration seem to be the areas that fish gravitate towards.

I caught most of my fish on a Mule Fishing Horse Fly rigged up on a 1/64oz Mule Jig. Towards the end of this video, I switch ultralight setups to enhance my ability to detect bites. While I do like low diameter monofilament, the high visibility braid is totally easier to fish with for panfish. Seeing your line is critical to landing more fish!
