LEDENET 460nm AI Prime 16 HD Add-On Light Aquaillumination for Coral Reef Aquarium Saltwater

This video is about a super cheap LED light bar (LEDENET $11.99) that I used as an add on for my Aquaillumination AI Prime 16 HD. This add-on LED bar is a 460nm spectrum and adds a great coral pop and blue spectrum to the tank.

The LED add on I chose is the LEDENET 12” Blue 460nm 12” light strip with 18 LEDs. This is a 3.6 watt light bar.

*Note: this light is not 12”. The bar itself is 12.5” and the bar with the fixed mounting is 13.5”

These lights can also be used as a complete lighting option for a nano or pico reef aquarium.

I am going to go through unpacking the light and options you can buy for it. You can buy dimmers, switches, reflectors, etc.
*Note: a power supply plug is a required additional purchase, as the LED bar does not come with a plug.

You can link up to 3 lights together on 1 power supply.

For mounting, you get 3 options:
– Adhesive strips
– Fixed mounting on the bar
– Attachable mounting brackets

However, I decided to build / create my own homemade mounting, which allows the light to attach directly to the AI Prime 16 HD.

I am going to walk you through how I created my own mounting in order to add it onto the AI Prime 16 HD.

I will go through the parts list required:
– Galvanized Braided Wire, rated at 10 pounds, 10’ length
– 1.5” Machine Screws with Nuts, I used Zinc Plated

I will also walk you through a step by step assembly of the homemade mount I made, including measurements.

Some tips on creating the homemade mount:
– 3 wires across the top
– 2 wires underneath
– 3rd wire on top is wire to wire, not bolt to bolt
– Bolts set on top of the AI Prime
– Brackets set underneath the AI Prime
– Bottom wires go through the brackets, not bolt to bolt

*Special Note: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS TO AI PRIME. Tighten the nut to nut in order to hold the wire in place. Never tighten to the AI Prime, do not squeeze the AI Prime, do not push on the AI Prime, do not tighten to the AI Prime, do no crack the AI Prime, do not put pressure on the AI Prime, do not pinch the AI Prime, etc. Do not harm the prime in any way, shape, or form. THIS IS A SET IN PLACE!!!!

At the end I will show how the light looks on my 15 gallon Nano Reef Tank with 1 AI Prime and my 45 gallon with 2 AI Prime 16 HD.

My schedule for this add on will be:
– On: come on post sunrise, so on time of 11am
– Off: shut off at start of sunset, so off at 9pm
