How to Perform a Water Change for a Saltwater Aquarium

TJ from is setting up a new saltwater aquarium. In this video he shows how to clean out the display tank of a 30 gallon saltwater aquarium and perform a quick, 20 percent water change.

This is a saltwater aquarium that does not have a sump. The protein skimmer and all of the power heads, pumps, and filtration systems hang on the back of the main tank.

In order to perform water changes a little bit quicker, TJ uses an Aqueon Water Changer that is attached to a sink in a bathroom across the room from the aquarium. The water being removed is siphoned through the tubing of the Aqueon Water Changer and down the sink drain. Then, the tank is filled back up with new saltwater that has been pre-prepared. TJ always makes sure that the new saltwater being added to the display tank has matching salinity, pH, and temperature of the water already in the aquarium.
