Fish Care Tips
HOW TO CARE Glow Fish History / and rumors cleared
GloFish are an interesting florescent fish. Glo Fish are actually several species of aquarium fish, where, the ancestors of the original glofish had proteins from jelly fish, corals, and other resources injected into them while they were in the embryo stage. The gene is now expressive, and it passes down through new generators of fish, just like hair color and eyes would in humans.
GloFish are only branched off in a couple of different species that are available to the public in mass numbers, those are the zebra danios, white skirt tetra, and tiger bard. All three of those fish are super hardy fish, and are an excellent choice for beginners. I believe that the betta will not be too far behind. Glo fish are growing in popularity and at a rapid rate, there are tones of glofish products everywhere, from lighting, to aquariums, to water conditioners, and foods. when you are housing glofish it is best to keep them under a blue light if you want to see their florescent colors, really pop.
Glofish can be kept in a community aquarium, they are still the species they were deprived from, its just they have a man made forced, pigmentation, if you keep them in a community tank, they will behave just like their ancestors, but the coloration will not be as vibrant.
in my opinion i don’t think i’d ever buy glofish, but its a great building block for beginners.
