Fish Care Tips

How to Add Fish to a New Freshwater Aquarium | Beginner Guide

I’m super excited for today’s video because it’s finally time to add fish to this aquarium! At eight weeks old, this UNS 60U (20 gal) is fully cycled and is finally through its algae phase. The green hair algae and diatoms were really rough, but the combination of regular maintenance, stable parameters, and a hardworking algae crew got the job done!

Today I’ll walk you through my step-by-step process for how to add new fish to a cycled aquarium, using the drip acclimation system. This will ensure a safe start for your new fish and give them the best chance at thriving in their home. Today I’ll be adding twenty Flamingo variety Fancy Guppies to this tank. I hope you like the fish choice as much as I do. See you next time!
