Added fish tank questions:
Please help!!! Picture of deceased fish in comments. I’m at my witts end. Another guppy died today, 3rd one this week. I feel like I’m going to lose them all at this point. I believe my tanks all have columnaris but I’m also suspecting myxobacteriosis and possibly parasites as well all my fish are going black though?!? What do I do?? I’ve ordered metroplex, nitrofurazone and kanaplex but it’s 2-4 week wait as I live in Australia and it’s not available in store here.

I’ve been treating with tetracycline, salt, daily water changes with added good bacteria and have done a potassium permanganate dip 2 days ago. But they are still dying. I’m at the point where I’m considering throwing it in of I lose them all.. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I always test my water, am on top of water changes, don’t over feed, not over stocked and am spending thousands on them just to be getting horrendous disease.

My Electric Blue Acara Care Guide

Aquarium blue acara cichlids. I’m not being sarcastic, but there seems to be a lot of people killing fish in this group. I guess I’m being pessimistic. I’d rather hear success stories, there are a bunch posted, but they seem overwhelmed by the sick and dying fish posts. Just an observation and please delete if this is stepping out of bounds. Generally the people who’s fish are perfect and healthy don’t post as often as those who need advice.

I think that’s just because most people that join this group are just learning or have run into a problem and are looking for advice from people who may have went through the same struggle before.

Lol not to say that people on here arnt happy I post about my excitement about setting up my first large tank quite a bit while also asking questions and trying to learn. Lol I think if everyone only ever posted “look how amazing my fish are doing!” It would make this group rather boring.. lol but this just my opinion of course.

Honestly idk why the negativity at all some people want in the hobby and only listen to there petco not knowing any better. When they reach us they have to get the right advice and move foward id rather someone asking for help and acknowledging there mistakes and needing knowledge than not saying anything and killing off fish and eventually leaving rhe hobby. It ties in with the fake plant real plant that has plagued the forums here recently it doesnt matter different strokes for different folks. As long as people are learning and have a place to go with positive vibes that should be all that matters.

Idk my first memory of a fish tank was my dads when I was 3 years old. I’ve been around or kept fish for 25 years now. I joined these groups about 5 years ago I can guarantee you my knowledge on fish keeping is exponentially bigger from being apart of these groups. Everyone has different experiences. I may have a relatively uneventful year of fish keeping while someone else’s whole tank is mysteriously dying lol. It’s all interesting to me.

On a positive note though my clown loaches have recently reached a foot long and my fire eel is now over 3 feet. I’m pretty excited about it lol Everyone at sometime at the beginning of their aquarium experience will face a serious problem of some sort…ie. . fish dying unexpectedly, cloudy water etc. For me it should always be a point of helping as to criticizing. We can all point out the negative…that’s easy…the goal and focus should always be the positive for everyone. For myself years ago instead of buying an aquarium first…I bought a “how to” book on setting up an aquarium. Learning about all the aspects of it as I possibly could and understanding it.

So for me before I try do something I read and ask questions. This is a “hobby” for enjoyment and learning. Some folks won’t “look before you leap”. Guidance, patience and the sharing of experience is the right thing to do. A path to success always has failures along the way.
