Dinoflagellates are one of the most dreaded forms of nuisance algae in the saltwater aquarium hobby. One telltale sign that you have them is that your livestock, particularly your snails, start dying off. Dino’s are toxic, but your livestock doesn’t know that.

So how do you identify this awful nuisance algae? And most importantly, how do you get rid of it? It can be tricky, but with the use of a microscope you can be sure of what you have.
