Not an angelfish but this rope fish is in with my angelfish and discus so technically I can still post a pic of him right!? I just thought the top pic was badass and I wanted to share him with everyone! Definitely planning to get some more because they prefer to be in groups. This guy was given to me and I’m so glad I got him!

Oh yeah! He/she never bothers a soul! It’s so cool to see him swim around too! They do prefer to be in groups though and I definitely wanna get some more! This video was taken a week or two ago in the morning. Very active in the mornings but most the time it’s active right around feeding time.

Awesome fish! A bit of unsolicited advice: the store i worked in years ago used to get them fairly often, they would frequent escape from the tanks so use a tight fitting lid. With that said if he does escape put him back in water ASAP. I remember finding them on floor lifeless looking almost dried out. Put them in the tank and before you knew it swimming around again.

Got a fiew and i love them they look so happy. As tom says above keep the top sealed or else it will end up outside the tank. I lost one going in my canisterfilter aswell so i have a sock over the inlett. Great picture aswell. My canister intake and outtake are closed up enough for him not to get out. The only place he could possibly get out is where the HOBs are but so far no issues with him trying to escape.

I ordered angelfish and I’m kinda freaking out because they are going to be the size of peas to dime size…. I’ve never had an angel that small is there anything I need to do special for them???? Advice anyone. bare bottom tank, feed at least 4 times daily, super clean water. small feedings 4-5x/day will help them grow faster and healthier than one or 2 big feedings. You are literally purchasing fry. My 4 to 5 week old are that size. I feed 4 to 5 times a day. You have to keep this up for another 4 weeks at least. I never sell my fish at this vulnerable age.

Yea they can produce upwards of 50 fry a spawn every 10 days. So yea you can have a lot. If they are not good parents you won’t have any. They will eat them within days of laying the eggs. IF conditions are not good in the nursery and they are not fed well you could lose them after free swimming as well. So a lot has to happen to make it work.

Hey forget about producing 1000s of babies. It’s not easy breeding angelfish- not difficult mind you. You need lots of patience dedication and TIME. If you have just had some fry, your priority now is to grow them on. Inevitably you will have a percentage of mortality. When I first started breeding, I would consider myself lucky to grow out 100 angelfish from a spawn of some 500 eggs. All in all breeding gives a huge sense of satisfaction. Good luck my friend.

Just showing the progression from juvenile platinums to adult. My babies have come a long ways! I was sad to let 3 go but I needed to make room for the 2 pair I kept. Only lost one over the year and a half I have had them and I think that was just a freak thing that either it rammed the glass or was killed by one of the males.

Clown knife fish are great in aquariums. Asap. Alot of them will eat the slime coat off the parents causing the parents to stress. If they are swimming you can remove the parents and keep the fry by themselves… I remove the eggs most of the time and hatch them myself so the fry is never with the parents and just about every fry survives. you can remove the parents now. If you leave them in there and they get ready to spawn again they will kill the other fry. I don’t leave them with their parents at all but some people do it different. I don’t lose any of my fry ever.

My angel laid more eggs and she had 3 week old fry. She attached the male but let the fry eat the eggs. I scraped the eggs off the glass and peace has been restored. And, yes angelfish fry will eat the parent’s slime. I’ve seen it many times. This usually only happens when they get hungry, so it’s important to feed them enough regularly. The problem is that angelfish do not regenerate the slime quick enough, so fry feeding off the slime coat can easily end up killing the parents (I’ve seen this on several occasions).

I always recommend to remove fry as soon as possible for many reasons. If you are a beginner, many things can go wrong. At least when the fry are by themselves you won’t kill the parents along with them if you mess up.

I agree on the slime feeding when hungry but hungry is not a good situation.
