The Story: This town has rallied behind a beloved donut shop owner, and the reason is truly heartwarming. Every morning, starting at 5 a.m., these people stand in line because they want the donuts at Donut City to sell out. While the donuts sure look delicious, the customer’s prime motivator is getting the owner out the door early. Some customers place massive orders—up to 300 donuts at a time—while others leave generous tips. The reason why is because the people in this community want the man who owns the shop to be able to close up early and go home to take care of his wife, who has been recovering from an aneurysm. He and his wife have been running the shop for 30 years in Seal Beach, California, and now the community’s ready to give back, showing up in support and rallying behind them with a touching display of solidarity, reminding us how great it feels to help each other out.
