The World Oldest Age Dog Ever | Bobi the Portuguese World's Oldest Dog Is 30 | Happy Birthday Bobi

Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, was born on May 11, 1992, and has lived his entire life with the Costa family in the rural village of Conquerors, in Leiria, Portugal. He broke the Guinness World Record for the oldest dog ever at 30 years and 266 days old on February 1, 2023.

Bobi’s story is quite miraculous. He was one of four male pups born in an outbuilding where the Costa family stored wood. Due to the number of animals, they already owned, Leonel’s father decided that they couldn’t keep the newborn puppies. However, Bobi managed to evade the same fate as his siblings as he was disguised amongst all the wood. Leonel and his brothers decided to keep Bobi’s existence a secret until he was eventually discovered and became part of the family.

Apart from a scare in 2018 when he was hospitalized after suddenly collapsing due to breathing difficulty, Mr. Costa says Bobi has enjoyed a relatively trouble-free life and believes the secret to his longevity is the “calm, peaceful environment” he lives in.
