Mindful Movement, Downward Dog & Superman Poses, yoga for kids with Miss Lori & Lenny the Porcupine

Mindful Movement Moments are designed to give caregivers a quick minute of inspiration to get the children in their care up and moving through some stretching and strengthening! Adapted from exercise ideas found in the game Flip 2 be Fit, join us in doing the Downward Dog Pose and Superman Pose!
Comments for Caregivers: Young children don’t need too much structure, so their participation may only last a moment, but it is through simple exercises that children explore the world of movement and what their bodies can do. The main purpose of these videos is to instill joy and curiosity and confidence through movement. You can use these movement ideas several times throughout the day. Or caregivers may want to use them for your own purposes of getting in a little extra tension relief for your day. Many times, when I do Yoga with very young children in my care, the children choose to just watch, or make up their own poses, while I get in a moment of stretching myself, but that’s still ok. Never underestimate the power of your example!
Please note that I am not a doctor, physical therapist, yoga instructor, nor anyone in the health or medical field. I am simply a person who likes to move. Having earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I understand the importance of movement and strive to instill a love of movement in the children I work with, providing a strong foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
As with any sports or exercise, if something hurts or doesn’t feel right, please stop the movement and consult a doctor for advice. Staying healthy and safe is our number one priority!
This is a good resource idea for childcare providers, parents and early childhood professionals. Grandparents, nannies and babysitters can find value as well in helping you think of things to do with your kids!
