Epic Animal Tracking Episode #1: Wolf, Coyote, Fox, Domestic Dog – Identification Tips

Tracking: Wild vs Domestic Canine Tracks
One of the most common questions we get about animal tracking is from people simply trying to find out if the track they found is from a wild or domestic canine. We have found over our years of tracking instruction that learning this distinction is the best place to start tracking, as it is the foundation for opening our eyes to the finer details that come later.

For the next several episodes of Into Their World, we will be taking you on an exploration of how to read what animals have left behind. We will show you how to identify tracks, scat, and sign of common animals in the United States. But it’s more than just classifying the tracks, it’s about an animal being hungry, pregnant, wounded, a member of a group, predator or prey, and so much more. Please join us on this journey!
