Thanks to your support and the support of all our wonderful and growing family of the Youtube channel Alveto Expedition we were able to bring food to the ZAP shelter in Greece; here they rescue and take care of stray dogs and find them home in Greece and abroad.
This small group of volunteers has been working for about 10 years and has rescued more than 1100 dogs from the streets, vaccinating them, treating them from diseases and even doing psychological rehabilitation of abused and abandoned dogs when necessary. They also collaborate with different organisations in Europe trying to find new homes for these unfortunate dogs.
Nico, the president of this Charity Organization, went to Greece to retire, after a life of sacrifices as a restaurateur in Italy and choose this place to spend his old age; the tragic situation of dozens of abused and abandoned dogs and the almost non-existent structures in charge of containing this problem made him change his mind about the retirement. Even using his personal car to go in search of abandoned dogs and transferring part of his pension to the organisation’s account, Nico, together with his wife Simonetta, Annika and a group of volunteers, tries to do his best to improve the sad reality, the other side of the coin, of a Greece that tourists and holidaymakers surely do not know.
