How to Choose the Best Pet Supplement for Your Dog and Cat in 6 Steps – Dog + Cat Health Vet Advice
Are you thinking of starting your dog or cat on a dietary supplement for any reason? It could be to tackle their arthritis, cystitis, liver disease, coat condition, intestinal disease or just to try and optimize their general body health. In this video, I ask you one critical question and then give you 6 tips to help you choose the best pet supplement for your furry family member.
Before starting any supplement the question you must answer is this: Do you really need to buy the supplement? To understand if the answer is yes then what is the evidence they work in dogs or cats? Not all are harmless + a lot have little if any quality evidence to support their use. Is your pet already taking a dietary supplement, drug or diet that contains similar ingredients?
Here are my tips to choosing the best dietary supplement to give to your dog or cat:
1 – Don’t shop based on price alone (you get what you pay for)
2 – Ask your vet which products they recommend
3 – Stick to well-known brands you already trust
4 – Avoid online-only products
5 – Look to see if any independent analysis has been done
6 – Take real care with human supplements (they could be toxic)
