How to Check Your Cat for Fleas (it’s super easy!) – Cat Health Vet Advice
If your cat is scratching, licking themselves bald, or has developed lots of little scabs on their skin then you really need to know how to check your cat for fleas. Fleas are an incredibly common cause of itching in cats, and itβs not always as obvious as you might think to know if your cat has fleas or not!
The first step is to part your cat’s fur and look for fleas as you run your finger towards their head. You should also look for black specs as evidence that your cat has fleas.
Next, use a flea comb and check for adults each time you brush your cat. If you brush out black specs, wipe them on a damp piece of tissue paper. If they leave a rusty red smear then this is flea dirt and your cat definitely has fleas.
