How To Apply Sunscreen To Your Cat | Pet Health Advice
PDSA Veterinary Nurse Nina demonstrates how to apply sunscreen to your cat in three simple steps. More information on sunburn in pets:
Step 1 – Preparation
Use a pet-safe, long-lasting sunscreen, which is at least factor 30. Show your cat the bottle and give them treats at the same time.
Step 2 – Application
Gently apply a thin layer to the front and back of your cat’s ears. If your cat has light-coloured skin above their nose, apply some sunscreen there too.
Step 3 – Distraction
Once you’ve applied the sunscreen, play with your cat or use treats to distract them from trying to lick it off.
If you are still struggling to apply sunscreen to your cat, contact your vet for their advice.
