Hair Loss in Cats: how to find out why their fur is falling out – Cat Health Vet Advice
Skin disease can be INCREDIBLY frustrating to tackle. To find out why your cat is losing hair, going bald or over-grooming there are a number of surprisingly simple tests that can be carried out. Even then, the answer isnโt always obvious! Hair loss itself can be due to a number of different causes. These include parasites, allergies, hormonal problems, and even stress as well.
Tests to find out why your cat’s hair is falling out include hair plucks, tape preps, skin scrapes, blood tests, biopsy, and even diet trials. The problem with all this is that the results are not always clear cut, and when it comes to diet trials to test for food allergy as well as other treatment trials, the results can take a long time to become apparent.
