Community Cats: what it takes to care for 150 cats

Katrina has only been caring for community cats for two years, but in that time she’s saved the lives of more than 100 cats.
What is a community cat program (CCP)? These shelter-based programs, based on the trap-neuter-return (TNR) method of population management, are effective at reducing the numbers of these cats, reducing shelter admissions and shelter deaths, saving taxpayers money and providing a public health benefit to the community. In such programs, unowned, free-roaming cats deemed healthy enough to qualify for the program are sterilized, vaccinated and returned to their original location.
