Dog Care Tips

CAM LIVE Communication and decision making when caring for a dog with arthritis with Andrew Hale

FULL VIDEO: You can find the full video in CAM MemberZone.

CAM aims to help our followers manage their dogs’ arthritis to the best of their ability, and this does not just revolve around knowing the latest pain relief or the best supplement. It’s also essential to communicate effectively with veterinary professionals and in this live Andrew Hale joins Hannah Capon to look at communication and decision-making. They aim to provide owners/clients with the tools to improve two-way conversations with their veterinary team, as well as help them prepare for the flurry of back-to-back decisions which are inevitable when managing a dog with osteoarthritis. Following the acronym SPIKES (Set up, Perception, Invitation, Knowledge, Emotion and Summary/strategy), Andrew aims to give both owners and professionals the tools to be able to work better together for the benefit of the dog in their care.

Andrew Hale (Bsc, ISCP.Dip.Canine.Prac) is the owner, principal trainer and behaviourist at Train Positive. He is the proud owner of three wonderful dogs – two of which came to him with behavioural problems so he knows what it is like to live with and train dogs with difficult issues. As well as a BSc (Hons) he also holds various diplomas in animal and canine behaviour. He is a Certified Animal Behaviourist and Certified Canine Behaviourist. Andrew has been a key note speaker at many international behavioural conferences and is well known within the dog behaviour and training industry. He runs the popular Dog Centred Care group on Facebook: Andrew provides the behavioural support to Animals in Distress and is the Behavioural Consultant for Pet Remedy and British Isles Grooming Association.
