Do you own a Leopard Gecko? It seems that these little lizards are some of the most popular reptiles in the entire pet hobby! But are Leopard Geckos the best pet lizard for you? Well they do like it hot, they like it dry and this might be an issue with some keepers. There are some great Leopard Gecko alternatives out there. For example if you would like a more arboreal setup to house a lizard with a bit more humidity but is a similar size and just as easy to care for maybe a Crested Gecko is the best reptile for you. Perhaps you like terrestrial geckos but want an animal that is kept a bit cooler in temperature and more humid? Well a Chinese Cave Gecko might be your best bet in that case! Maybe the Leopard Gecko size is the sticking point and you want a larger reptile as a pet? In that case maybe a Bearded Dragon would be better. Beardies are less fragile, are kept at a bit hotter temps in larger enclosures but make amazing pets! These large lizards do not drop their tails making them easier to handle and a bit safer for kids to handle too. Maybe you want an herbivore lizard? In that case we’ve got some great salad muncher options. Uromastyx are a great option that only eat plants and seeds. Also Chuckwallas are great, desert dwelling lizards that love it hot and love their salads. Leopard geckos are awesome but there are so many other options!
