How to Grow Seeds for your Aquarium with NO Dry Start in Tank | NO Heat Easy Setup

Last month, when I got my new Pea Puffers, I bought a beautiful tissue culture plant pot of Rotala rotundifolia. Although the convenience of a nice pot of plant is heavily favored, the price is not (some pots can be upwards of $20 per pot). After my rotala grew out, I felt like my nano tank was still missing something- a foreground carpeting plant! So, after a bit of research, I came across these little inexpensive seeds. These are found on Amazon and Aliexpress- they’re readily available, cheap, and seem simple! Until I read the reviews… Lots of people claimed that their seeds melted, grew mold, and were simply not growing.
I wanted to solve this challenge- and luckily in my biology class, I had learned about seed germination (discussed in the video). Although a dry start method in a brand new tank is conventional, I did not have a new tank. So, I used what I had and this is what I came up with (spoiler: it was a success)! I encourage you all to try this out, it is a fun, inexpensive project with a great reward after 15 days.

Additional Notes:
-Germination (dry start) is a crucial step in order to sprout these seeds (often skipped)
-Keep the seeds under the light in the substrate for 8-10 hours a day
-Use a standard LED light at a minimum of 4.3 Watts
-Be sure the plant seeds fully sprout before submerging fully in the aquarium
