Can I leave Blue Aquarium Light on all Night?

Most aquarium LED lights sold nowadays have a feature called the blue moonlight night late. This is supposed to be a setting in which you use to have your aquarium lighting on at night. What happen though is the manufactures made this blue lighting a little bit too bright and it creates excess amounts of algae in your aquarium at times.

I would suggest that you do not use this blue aquarium LED light at night. Some people really want to use it and you can try it if you want but I wouldn’t advise it. Once you have excess amounts of algae in your fish tank it can sometimes be pretty difficult to get rid of.

Some Added Commentary

welp time to cry, i just added 4 more neon tetras to my betta tank which i already had 4 in it and i just checked in on them and my betta ate the head off of one of them. I feel terrible, they were smaller then my other tetras but he never bothered them when they were little. I feel so bad i brought them home to give them a good life in a nice planted tank and my betta just murdered one.

Hi all and thanks for the add! Hoping for guidance. I have an old 20 gallon hexagonal fish tank. Over the years 2 panes of glass have cracked clean through where water seeps through when filled. Has anyone successfully repaired a tank like that? If so how did you do it? Or is it best to buy another tank?

People will want my head but you can get away with a two-gallon. Some fish are super tiny, like Mosquito Rasboras. If it’s well planned, you could have a small school of them. Pygmy Corydora are another species that are crazy tiny, but they like having stuff to climb and rest on.

As others have said, bigger is better. Your options really start opening up around 10 gallons. That’s when you can start doing simple community tanks. You could do an inverts-only tank. The number of species of snails, shrimp, crabs, and various microorganisms available in the hobby these days is, well, a lot.

Tank that size would be nice for some live plants, a piece of driftwood, & colorful shrimp. If you want a smaller tank designed for fish, look at the “nano” fish tanks. If you google nano fish tanks, it’ll give you lots of ideas.

Wow! Impressive for a new hobbyist! Love it! I’ll just be quick because it’s bed time but have you checked water parameters? That’s always the first thing to do if fish are acting off or are dying. Check ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. We recommend api master kit.

But yessss and the workers at these chain pet stores sadly aren’t educated on fish either so it doesn’t help. It all started because I got the kids a betta fish in a one gallon and I felt so sad for him and found out they actually love big tanks! And then got hooked on it and here I am already wanting to get a tank for every room in my house.

Sadly I don’t have any nearby but looking into making the hour long drive to support a few. I was just too desperate to get fishies in the tank so I went straight to petsmart.

Its dominance behavior. He needs more of his own kind. Just a suggestion – i cannot more highly recommend a quarantine tank. Quarantine all new fish separately for 4-6 weeks. At it takes is one sick fish from a low quality supplier and your entire tank is wiped out. I use a 5.5 g tank and also have a big tote bin I use for bigger fish.

i’ve thought about doing a 125 gallon discus tank but i’m getting so much mixed information about them, some say they’re super difficult to care for, others say they are pretty adaptable and are not too hard to care for. some say they need hot water, some say they need cold water, i’m so confused. can anyone who owns discus give me some straight forward info.

Leaving your blue aquarium led light on at night may cause excess amounts of algae.

Petco by me has had problems for a couple years with not having healthy fish to sell. More often than not when I stop in, they’ll be be treating a whole bank of tanks, (with a shared sump system) for something. Sometimes it’s 2 or 3 sections of tanks. I don’t think they have an effective maintenance or quarantine system.
