Bird's Nest Fern Plant Care Tips🌿 Asplenium antiquum @ foli8

Bird’s Nest Fern is a pet-friendly, low-maintenance houseplant. Also known as Asplenium antiquum, this plant can be distinguished by having fronds that have more parallel edges and a green, or occasionally reddish, midrib, rather than the pronounced black in asplenium nidus. The plant is also smaller and the fronds tend to be of a uniform width. The glossy, simple fronds of Asplenium antiquum are arranged in an upward-spreading rosette. Each frond is bright green with a pronounced prominent midrib.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
This is Asplenium antiquum. It has green fronds that grow from the centre of the brown mass you will see here and that brown mass actually lends itself to the name Bird’s Nest Fern. You can distinguish it from other Aspleniums as you can see it has a green mid-rib as opposed to darker ones found elsewhere. When caring for this plant at home, make sure you keep the soil moist at all times and avoid direct sunlight. This fern will absolutely love being misted every now and again. When growing in the wild it actually grows on trees or top of rocks and you can see a great example of this here as it’s actually it’s actually growing on top of a lava rock. This would look really good as a desk plant.
