Sunfish Aquarium Setup Worth It?

Are Native Bluegill Sunfish Tanks Cool? People ask me if I think native bluegill sunfish aquarium setups are cool or worth the time? Sunfish are some of the hardiest fish on the planet and you donโ€™t have to heat the aquarium setup. I give my personal opinion on sunfish aquarium setups.

How many fish can I put on a ten gallon tank?

Replies and Comments:
10 inches of fish full grown. Research how long they are estimated to be full grown and add up the inches.

I mean of course you could overstock the tank to your hearts desire however it would only increase your maintenance and work and not to mention frustration in addition to heartache when the fish die because the water and filter cannot handle their bioload.

First I said max, second ten guppies? A gallon a guppy? And it’s really more than a gallon when you start doing math of free space after fish. No I wouldn’t, but it’s not unthinkable.

Sweetie, it really depends on the gallon requirements for the fish. I would recommend you find a fish you like and research how big a tank it requires.

I hate 10 gal personal opinion, I do have a 1 betta in 1. I use it as my hospital tank.but u could put 5 1 inch full size fish in 1…..cudos to you for getting a 10 and not anything less.

I have a betta, 5 harlequin rasboras, 7 nerite snails (they sent a ton of extras and they all magically made it), 7 Amano shrimp (that hide very well in my overly planted tanks) and I may add a few Pygmy corys. Iโ€™m running the aquaclear 30, for 10-30 gallons and havenโ€™t had any issues level wise. Everyone is active and healthy.

I wouldn’t recommend guppies and a betta. Guppies breed like rabbits and if your betta doesn’t have a good temperment it can be a nightmare unless you have another back up tank for your betta or guppies.

Iโ€™ve always been told 1 fish per 10 gal. However take into consideration how big the fish is going to get what type of fish it is and if they would thrive in such a small tank because I do not think most fish would. I would say a beta fish and maybe a shrimp and some snails but thatโ€™s about it.

You add your tank size and click “update,” then enter the filters you’re using and click “update,” then on the left it has a list of fish – enter the ones you have or are thinking of adding, click “add,” and it will tell you at the bottom how full your tank is, the parameters you should keep it at, and how frequently/much you should do water changes.

I have 8 in mine… 3 platties, a molly, 3 danios and a little suckerfish. It really depends on the size of the fish and the filter you have, you donโ€™t want to have so much gunk for your filter to clean that it canโ€™t clean it all and your tank gets a mess. Thereโ€™s some rules of thumb to follow but I hear itโ€™s different for everyone really, just play around with it.

I was always told 1 inch of fish max size per gallon so if a fish will grow to 5 inches you can put 2 in there but also gotta think about the decorations take up volume as well so after it’s all said and done a 10 gal is really around 7-8 gal.

I have a 20GAL hex tall tank, I keep three guppies, three swordtails, three mollies, five GloFish Danios, four corydorys, three ghost shrimp and an Amano shrimp. Thatโ€™s 22…but keep in mind, these are all small species fish that are around 2โ€ in length. A lot depends on the size and growth expectancy of the species you want to put in the tank.

But plecos have a large bioload, and most sites recommend at least 20 gallons even for clowns.

The majority of people starting out want as many different kinds of fish as they can “fit” in a tank, lol, and any pleco is going to limit that by a lot. I just input a clown pleco and vampire shrimp at Aqadvisor, and the stocking level is already at 69%. Sorry to jump on you, but it seemed you were being facetious. My apologies if you were sincerely trying to help her.
