Deadly Diet – The Hills Dog Food Diet Recall – Dog Health Vet Advice

Just last week the pet food manufacturer Hills issued a recall of some of their prescription dog food diets because they were found to contain very high levels of vitamin D. I reached out to them for some answers to explain how this pet food recall happened, what checks are in place and what they are doing to make sure that something like this doesn’t happen ever again.

High levels of vitamin D are used in some situations as rat bait. They cause blood calcium levels to rise which then causes kidney failure and death. It is the last thing you would expect to happen to a premium pet food manufacturer, all the more reason to try and get some answers.
