Episode 16: Guide to Setting up a Saltwater Nano Aquarium – Part 1 – Substrate, Rock, and Salt
Starting off the series with explaining why salt, substrate, and rock are important elements to consider in a saltwater nano aquarium.
Discussion overview:
– Salt – Alkalinity, Calcium, and Magnesium levels and trace elements are all things to consider when choosing salt. Quality salt will mix result in clean and clear water with no residue.
– Substrate – Live sand vs. dry sand and understanding how grain size effects your aquarium and what you livestock you can have. We will also discuss how deep should the sand bed be.
– Rock – Live vs. dry and how much is necessary for a nano aquarium. We will be using Marco rocks and CaribSea Life Rock.
