Small Animal Care Tips

My Daily Parrot Routine

Join me to see what a day in my life looks like caring for 38 parrots! My daily bird care routine includes vacuuming, feeding them high quality parrot pellets, seed treats, preparing fresh fruits & vegetables, wiping down cage doors and bars, changing the larger bird’s newspaper daily, checking for damaged toy parts, and letting them out to PLAY!!!

Whew! It is a BIG job and I LOVE what I DO! I have been teaching about parrot care for over 20 years and my passion for birds has been rooted into my 4 children as well. Not every day is perfect BUT if these chores do not get done daily, my bird room is a wreck and the parrots will be unhappy without proper enrichment outside of their cage. I always change things up with toys so everyday is pretty much a FUN day!

There is much more that I do on a WEEKLY basis such as cleaning bird grates, more newspaper, cage trays, mopping floors, and wiping walls from all of the poop and food they love to display as ART! Most of my frozen organic veggies come from Costco. Always TRY to feed organic as the pesticides on foods do not wash off. They contain harmful chemicals and bad estrogen.
