African Leaf Fish Care – Spotted Bush Fish “Leapord”
African leaf bush Fish Care is easy. I feed my African leaf fish these omega one pellets. This food costs a couple extra dollars but it’s totally worth it.
The leaf fish aka bush fish is an awesome fish to keep. Long post, but read if you’re considering a Seachem Tidal 110. I’ve been running the Tidal 110 for three days now, and here are my impressions.
**Pros: Self priming. Definitely a plus (however, this leads to one of the cons below). I also love the design and ease of the removable basket, and how the lid doubles as a drip tray for it.
**Cons: Quite a few sadly. Number one, this thing is LOUD. A horrible, loud vibrating noise when the flows turned up to max output. I’ve taken it apart and there’s nothing dirty or foreign in there causing this, it’s just a very loud motor. Currently sitting here with the TV on, and earbuds in watching YouTube, and I can STILL hear the Tidal, even though I have the flow dialed down about halfway. Secondly the self priming feature I love, is only possible because the motor is inside the tank, which looks rather bulky and ugly. Next the skimmer; it’s not that I hate this feature, I just wish it could be turned off, instead of just adjusted down. The skimmer also leads to the second biggest con (noise being the first). It seems like all the intake is going in through the skimmer, barely any into the actual intake tube. I have watched the tiniest lightest particles float right by the intake like it’s not even there. That’s pretty much a deal breaker for me.
So, I’m most likely sending the Tidal back to Amazon. My only issue is where to go from here. My AC 70 is now running on my 20g, and I don’t really want another one because it’s been nothing but a headache. I’m seriously considering a canister, but I know zero about those, and I don’t have a cabinet under the tank to keep one in. Just feeling really frustrated with filters in general right now.
I just finished redoing my 75 gallon fish tank today. I am really happy with the way it looks now. I am sure I will keep adding some plants and eventually I would like to go high tech with it. The first picture is with my beamswork on and the second one is with just my finnex on with the evening mode. It’s still a little cloudy but it will be crystal clear by the morning. Now to decide on what fish to add.
Hi, I am a member of the Betta Fish Keepers page and one of the new admins has blocked me from posting because I answered a thread where a man was telling someone it’s okay to put a male in with females. This man laughed at me and kept harassing me on the thread because i was telling the woman not to do that because it is so dangerous to the bettas. An admin stepped in and told us to stop talking, which I did,but this man kept going on and told the girl again to try adding the male with females, and I just said again to HER,not to do it because of the danger. Then the admin blocks ME from posting?!
This is really unfair.I really like the betta fish keepers page, but lately some of the admins and mods are going too far policing everyone and ruining the page. It’s very disappointing and will end up wrecking the page for people.
A few years ago i had a tank full of platies ,one by one they all had curved backs like that ,they all lived a long time like that, never found out what is was. I found all of the platies 5 months ago in a petco dumpster. All in the same bag from the fish farm. I guess it’s possible he’s older than the rest. He’s always been the weakest since then. He acts normal, just looks so unhealthy. Thanks. I hope he’s happy and stays active until he passes then..
OK maybe as you say then it could be down to him being the weakest of the batch. At least he would have had a good life with you looking after him much better than that of a pet shop. Good luck. 🙂 Could be old age. My first beta, Copper, had the same issue. He was also sick a lot for the first three months I had him with ich, fungal infections, tail rot, etc. eventually he got the same thing your platy got, but he would be hardly able to move for the last week of his life and would only come up for food sometimes if it didn’t fall to the bottom.
This fish has sunken belly. It’s usually an internal parasite that causes it. Api general cure will help but I’m not sure he can be saved. That looks pretty severe.
