Tips for Picking a Dog From an Animal Shelter

This video will be played in the lobby of Salt Lake County Animal Shelters in hopes that it prepares new dog owners with the right mindset as they go about picking a new dog for their family.

Ryan Gwilliam wrote the script and Train Walk Poop did all the camera work/editing free of charge. We hope this video series will increase the adoption retention rates at our local shelters.

A lot people come into animal shelters thinking that the dog they are about to adopt will be potty trained and somewhat well behaved. While some dogs at the shelter are, many are far from trained and will require lots of attention and patience when they get to their new home.

Our hope is that these videos will set new dog owners up for success because they will know what rescue dogs tend to be like. This way the challenges shelter dogs present won’t take their new family by surprise!
