Just because you are new to reptiles, a beginner reptile keeper doesn’t mean you need to get a corn snake or ball python or whatever reptile all your friends have or have seen on every other pettubers beginner snake list. There is nothing wrong with leopard geckos, bearded dragons and all the other usual suspects but there are some much more unique option. Sometimes expensive reptiles for beginners but well worth it. For example, Rubber Boas would make a great first snake! Likely better off to get an adult for the reasons mentioned in the video but small boas like these make amazing pets and are super manageable for even the most inexperienced snake keeper. If you want a bit of a bigger snake maybe an Angolan Python is for you! These amazing African snakes look similar to a ball python but are quite unique snakes that for sure will not be in all of your friends snake collections. If you’re more of an arboreal lizard lover but don’t want a crested gecko, why not look into Chahoua Geckos? Very similar to Leacianus geckos but a bit smaller and just as uncommon. If you like cool and humid species of lizards and snakes maybe a Mandarin Rat snake is right for you, an absolutely beautiful snake species and easy to care for. Chinese Cave Geckos and Japanese Cave Geckos also are amazing species and deserve the title of best unique beginner pet reptile that you didn’t know where beginner pet reptiles.
