Cat / Kitten spay surgery aftercare. Maia is fixed. She’s spayed now and we are happy for it. Still have Mandy and Megan to get spayed soon.
At approximately six months is the time to plan for your kittens to be Spayed or Neutered.
In animal shelters, surgery is often performed at this time so that kittens can be sterilized prior to adoption.
Pre – Anesthetic Blood Work
Is it Blood work really necessary?
Yes, The veterinarian can spot early signs of countless diseases this way and can get a better idea of how anesthesia may affect your pet.
Blood work before surgery also gives the doctor a chance to potentially alter their typical drug protocol for sedation and anesthesia to a combination of different medications that safer for your specific cat or dog.
Every drug has it’s side effects and we want the best outcome possible for you and your pet.
Most spay/neuter skin incisions are fully healed within about 10–14 days, which coincides with the time that stitches or staples, if any, will need to be removed. Bathing and swimming. Don’t bathe your pet or let them swim until their stitches or staples have been removed and your veterinarian has cleared you to do so.
