Cat Care Tips
Cats and people getting the relationship right 6/6) Practical tips and conclusion
Guidelines on “Feline Environmental Needs” have been published in 2013 in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (JFMS) by the AAFP/ISFM.
They identify five ‘pillars’ of a healthy feline environment and have been designed to provide easily understandable practical advice on how to maximise cat welfare via the provision of the optimum environment.
Vicky Halls (registered veterinary nurse, member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counselors and consultant as a feline specialist), focused on the 4th pillar in her talk entitled: “Cats and people: getting the relationship right”. She presented a very educational case study to illustrate her talk.
This lecture of 54 min is split here into 6 chapters, covering Human-cat social interactions, ways to interact, cat/human bond and when it goes wrong, how to get the relationship right, a case study and practical tips.
It was the second part of the symposium “Cats and people living together” that took place during the 2013 World Feline Veterinary Congress organized by International Cat Care and Ceva Santรฉ Animale, in Barcelona on June 26th-30th.
